Gears of War 2 finally has a release date!

21 Feb

Gears of War 2, the highly anticipated 3rd person shooter exclusively
on the Xbox 360 has finally been given a release date yesterday at the
Game Developers Conference. It is said to be released this coming
November as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360. Not much more details
have been given, but much anticipation awaits further details of the
game!

Gears of War, the game everybody anticipated even before they got their Xbox 360′s, was a huge success from the beginning. It, having amazing visuals and a multiplayer that was more fun than a barrel full of monkeys, was on top of the Xbox Live game list for over a year, never faltering to number 2, not even once. Now, the newest installment of the game has been given a release date! Many questions have arisen from this information, such as will lag problems be fixed? Will bullet lag cease to exist? Will the host advantage FINALLY be taken out of the game? All of these questions have not been answered yet, but hopefully in the upcoming months, we will learn the mysterious answers to these questions!

This teaser trailer was released on Xbox Live!

Windows mods!

14 Feb

These are ten cool mods to make your copy of Windows much easier to use, look cooler, and basically all out mod! Hope you enjoy.

Update 2/17/08
Added three new mods, including Natural Desktop, WindowFX, and Keyboard Launchpad. Enjoy!

1. Deskspace** – This application allows for multiple (up to four) desktops at once, and makes it easy to switch between them, much the same way Linux does. The application is intended for multitasking, and organization (view screenshot here).
2. Objectdock** – This quick access style application from Stardock makes it easy to get to your favorite applications quickly, it can be hidden from the screen, or stay below all windows, and only pops up when you need it. It is greatly customizable, and a good utility, if you like organization and to quickly access your most used programs (view screenshot here).
3. Crystal Clear (and Bricopacks) – Enhance the graphics for those desktop icons! Makes the icons in the Windows Explorer stand out too (comes with free RocketDock (not as many features as ObjectDock, but they are both similar), and includes Ubericon) (view screenshot here). 13 Feb

There are ways, believe it or not, to speed up your internet connection completely free and safe! First of all, test your connection here and compare your speeds from before and after you take these steps. Here are three easy ways to do so:

1. Unblocka – This is a program to allow Windows to take full advantage of high latency connections. It automatically tunes your computer to optimal settings to do just this!
2. OpenDNS – Change your DNS settings to the ones provided by OpenDNS. According to their site “OpenDNS is the world’s most intelligent DNS service. Our global network
and our software work together symbiotically to offer a set of features
custom-tailored to you, without requiring you to buy any hardware or
install any software.”
3. Google web accelerator – The Google web accelerator works primarily in two ways: one way is by sending page requests through Google’s web machines dedicated to handling Google web accelerator traffic, and another is by storing  copies of frequently accessed pages to make them quickly accessible. Look at how much time it’s saved me!

There you have it, three easy and quick ways to speed up your internet.
